Elder Kings 0.1.6 Dev Diary #3 - Tsaesci and Po Tun in 3370Нажмите здесь!

Hello again! Today's featured chapter in the Elder Kings 0.1.6 Developer Diaries focuses on the northern lands of Akavir, which are home to the Tsaesci and the Po Tun. These two races are longstanding rivals, and since they also occupy the same landmass, we'll visit them both.

The Tsaesci are a people with serpentine features and Ehlnofey origins, and are closely related to the Human races of Nirn. They live throughout the fertile plains, forests and river valleys of western and northern Akavir and have built a powerful civilization that brims with wealth and culture.

cqwG7ey.jpg

Most Tsaesci follow the faith of the Five Courts, represented by four lesser Serpents, one for each season, and the Elder Serpent, who represents the stasis of Anu. Five Courts doctrine states that blood courses with the power of the Elder Serpent, and by drinking blood, one can become closer to this deity. While some Tsaesci are more committed to this practice than others, drinking blood is considered a sacred act of worship and almost all Tsaesci have no qualms about partaking in it. This has led some to see the Tsaesci as vampires, but they are nothing of the sort.

xphe1w8.jpg

Religious misconceptions aside, there is no Akaviri race that is better-known or better-understood by the inhabitants of Tamriel than the Tsaesci, due to a massive invasion launched by them in the First Era. Their forces were resoundingly defeated by Reman I at Pale Pass, but many survived the war and intermingled with the population of Cyrodiil. Versidue-Shaie and Savien-Chorak, the Potentates who controlled the Empire after Reman III’s assassination, were both Tsaesci.

3pXkqJY.jpg

Dq9qznJ.jpg

Tsaesci arms, armor, art and architecture have diffused into Cyrodilic culture. The Dragonguard, an order of expertly-trained warriors, descends from Tsaesci military tradition. Many leading families in Cyrodiil have some degree of Tsaesci heritage.

One feature of Tsaesci society that has not diffused into Cyrodilic culture, or indeed, any other culture, is the dominance of females in politics. Males make up the bulk of the Tsaesci fighting forces and frequently rule over cities and temples, but feudal realms, including the thriving Matriarchies of Kamipara, Gorkota, Gorling and Nuku, are controlled by females.

b4n4LdU.jpg

Due to their prosperous lands and long lifespans, the Tsaesci have generally had little reason to fight with one another, focusing instead on foreign foes such as the Human-Akaviri, the Tang Mo and the Po Tun.

pA5YKA2.jpg

However, in 3370, Tsaesci civilization is becoming increasingly violent. Va-Tsii Iria* of Gorling, a brutal and spiteful warlord, is a threat to all of her neighbors.

dozxQee.jpg

Her ambition is to control all of Tsaesci land, which no serpent-queen has ever done before. Just recently, she subjugated Vataek and Vatak, angering the former lieges of these lands, Dokii Yara* of Meralang…

UPYv9H2.jpg

…and Daoqa Nayaras* of Vaspung.

2wFILBY.jpg

Gossip in the courts of the southwestern Tsaesci is that Iria’s incursions were merely tests for weakness, and that larger conquests of Vaspung and Meralang will soon be under way. Meralang needs to form an alliance with Vaspung if they wish to repel their foe, especially since Nayaras of Vaspung can call upon the aid of his sister Ovara*, the nearby Dokii of Cotu.

NLgV53R.jpg

In the east, the Vsiochi of Gorkota thrives under the rule of its Va-Tsii, Cora Vsuyes.*

QidbPA8.jpg

In the north, Va-Tsii Qis* of Kamipara is preparing to launch a massive offensive campaign. She hopes to continue the work of her ancestors and conquer the nearby monotheistic Sun Court-worshipping Humans, who are weak and fragmented.

klsvVce.jpg

oMFEMyl.jpg

Meanwhile, the eastern and southeastern Akaviri mainland belongs to several rival Po Tun states.

LZKg9E3.jpg

oHzop2M.jpg

The Po Tun are tiger-folk who boast an incredible natural resistance to the scathing heat of Akavir’s great eastern desert. Despite the arid terrain, the Po Tun thrive in these conditions and dwell in dozens of cities that are fed by cavernous subterranean aquifers. Most of them consider these water sources to be a blessing from the Great Tiger, and believe that this single god watches over them and intervenes on their behalf in their greatest crises. Recently, the Po Tun realms have enjoyed relative stability. The rival Kingdoms of Xie Yang, currently ruled by Tun Caruraja Pata-Sarpa Jiti*...

FhYz31h.jpg

…and Gucun, ruled by Tun Citrya-Nara Daksu Admani*…

511Mdmo.jpg

…occasionally skirmish around their border, but these conflicts have been small and inconsequential. Most Po Tun military resources are directed not at each other, but at protecting the passes of the Akaviri Mountains from Tsaesci intruders. Xie Yang is larger and stronger, but must guard two such passes. Gucun does not have such concerns; giving it much more flexibility to expand its influence if Citrya-Nara so pleases. Instead, the northern passes are guarded by Hulan Kharu-Admani Kharu Kunda’s Duchy of Shien*…

vmPLfb5.jpg

…and Hulan Bavinabha Vizala Anaduh ‘s Duchy of Shingen.

2c037YV.jpg

Shingen, Shien and Yichung, which sits between the two, are all rather small, and any of them could triumph over the other two. The nearby state of Bao Ung, ruled by a Human named Hisako*, is small and has no allies, making it ripe for the taking.

Bjh7Ha4.jpg

Peace currently reigns in the lands of the Po Tun, but the fragile balance between its current states means that this harmony will probably not last for long.

Two regions that are certainly not harmonious are Cyrodiil and the Reach. In our fourth dev diary, we’ll travel west, visit the wavering Cyrodilic Empire and see exactly what sort of trouble is brewing in the homelands of the Imperials and the Reachmen in 3492!

*Interesting Characters:

Tsaesci

-Iria Qou: Aspiring Warlord and Va-Tsii of Gorling. She is vicious and ambitious, and feared by her neighbors.

-Yara Vimei: The young Dokii of Meralang, she was once one of the most feared rulers in all the lands of the Tsaesci prior to her defeat at the hands of Va-Tsii Iria. She is eager to reclaim what is hers.

-Nayaras Zirak: Daoqa of Vaspung, he is a priest-duke who finds his realm at odds with the rising power that is Gorling. He could make a useful ally for the Dokii of Meralang (UNPLAYABLE).

-Ovara Zirak: Dokii of Cotu and sister of Nayaras of Vaspung. While not great in power, she has a useful ally who may be able to aid her in her quests to become more powerful and respected.

-Cora Vsuyes: The harsh but skilled Va-Tsii of Gorkota. Her realm is thriving, and if she can exploit the weaknesses of her neighbors, will be poised to become the strongest Tsaesci ruler.

-Qis Tksilye: Va-Tsii of Kamipara. Ruler of a fertile but fragmented island, she will be in an excellent position to expand if she can consolidate her rule and conquer the nearby heretics.

Po Tun

-Caruaraja Pata-Sarpa Jiti: Tun of Xie Yang, the stronger Po Tun kingdom. He has a powerful realm, but several moderately powerful rivals whose realms are adjacent to his own.

-Citrya-Nara Daksu Admani: Tun of Gucun, the lesser Po Tun kingdom. Despite being slightly weaker overall, he has greater prospects for expansion and little chance of falling victim to a Tsaesci invasion.

-Kharu-Adami Kharu Kunda: Hulan of Shien, a “buffer” duchy that defends its nearby pass from hostile Tsaesci. His northern neighbors are weaker than he is, and could be promising targets for conquest.

-Bavinabha Vizala Anaduh: Hulan of Shingen, the northernmost Po Tun state. If he can keep his borders intact, a conquest of neighboring Bao Ung would immediately make his realm a regional powerhouse.

Akaviri

-Hisako Kanzaki: A talented fighter and King of Bao Ung, a minor state consisting of two islands. He has no allies and a bevy of enemies, which will make any attempts to strengthen his position extremely difficult.

Elder Kings 0.1.6 Dev Diary #4 - Cyrodiil and the Reachmen

Hello, and welcome to the fourth installment in the Elder Kings 0.1.6 Developer Diaries! Last time, we took a trip to mainland Akavir and met the Po Tun and the Tsaesci of 3370. Now we'll move west and jump ahead a bit to find out what's happening in Cyrodiil and the Reach during our third bookmark.

In 3492, Cyrodiil is wracked with division and hostility. Just a few centuries ago, this land of rolling hills, verdant forests, azure rivers and humid swamps was the heart of a powerful empire, which was often referred to as “The Empire.” Technically, Cyrodiil is still the seat of an empire, but not in the same way that it was in the days of the Alessian Empire, the Reman dynasty, or even in the era of the Akaviri Potentates. This “Empire” is smaller, weaker, and decidedly un-Imperial.

YBSvBDL.jpg

Vef85lI.jpg

tfQqbL8.jpg

Thirty years ago, Durcorach “The Black Drake” Vasenon was the scourge of Tamriel. Uniting the tribal warriors of the Reach under his banner, he campaigned south into Cyrodiil, took the Empire as his own, and headed northwest to terrorize the city-states of High Rock. Fires burned from the banks of Lake Rumare to the crags of Evermore. The Black Drake and his hordes of axe-wielding, spell-slinging barbarians appeared to be far too strong to be stopped. But for all his might, Durcorach lacked the cunning to outwit his Breton enemies, and met his end at the hands of the crafty King Emeric of Wayrest during the Siege of Daggerfall.

SzjMuet.jpg

Now, Durcorach’s family still controls the Cyrodilic Empire, but the Empire’s power is nominal, and House Vasenon’s power is even more nominal than that. Durcorach’s grandson Leovic* is loved by few and hated by many.

hK71IzX.jpg

YGWoJal.jpg

His abrasive personality makes him a decidedly unpopular Emperor, and his fervent worship of the traditional Reach deities—especially the Daedra—has especially alienated his vassals in Cyrodiil and southern Skyrim. There is talk that he will soon face a large-scale revolt, and if this is true, his days may well be numbered. This would be all too-pleasing for the local Colovian rulers to the west; Varen* of the Colovian Estates…

Y1gpLhO.jpg

…Octavia* of Kvatch…

fPy3Ly7.jpg

…and Rislav II* of Skingrad.

vcF6qJ3.jpg

The realms of western Cyrodiil have longstanding rivalries which, in the case of the ruling houses of Kvatch and Skingrad, can be traced back to the First Era. Nonetheless, their ancient history also includes cooperation in desperate times; the most famous instance being when Rislav the Righteous and his Skingrad-Kvatch forces dealt a crippling blow to the Alessian Order and made way for its collapse.

Eb3ZgcZ.jpg

This precedent is not lost on the monarchs of Colovia, who will need to stand together in order to succeed in their endeavor to oust the witchmen from their homeland. While he is weak, Leovic has the sworn protection of his powerful father-in-law, Abur Tharn* of Nibenay.

drGRYjO.jpg

The brilliant mage-king of the Nibenese is only allied to the Reachmen as a matter of convenience and is not on the friendliest of terms with Leovic. However, Abnur is honorable enough to uphold his side of the alliance and will make a dangerous foe for anyone who dares to challenge the Empire. It would be wise for the Colovians to neutralize the effectiveness of this alliance before trying to unseat the Reachmen. Befriending Abnur could cause him to stay his hand. Alternatively, they could simply wait for the inevitable challenges from Leovic’s vassals, especially the covetous Alabcain*, High Chief of Karthspire.

rwGR3Ky.jpg

A less well-connected Reachman Emperor would be an easy target, as would an exhausted Cyrodilic-Nibenese alliance. But the Colovians are not the only ones in Cyrodiil who could overthrow the current ruling order. There are powerful lords on the Nibenese frontiers, namely, Count Saulio II* of Redman…

BTUjBCw.jpg

…Count Castio* of Sundercliff…

gIrl2IN.jpg

…Count Tertio* of King’s Crest…

JP4FeYI.jpg

…and Jarl Balimund* of Frostcrag.

lCchYfP.jpg

These men all have the potential to undermine or defeat Abnur and the Reachmen if they utilize good strategies and fine tactics. It is possible, although less likely, that any one of them may one day sit upon the Ruby Throne itself! The prospect of Balimund, in particular, has caused much amusement among the intellectuals in Cyrodiil. Often, they say to one another: “A Nord sweeping down from the north to take the Heartland and hold it in his name? How novel!”

How novel, indeed.

In our next developer diary, we will travel back across the Padomaic Ocean to visit the peaceful but extremely peculiar Quey Islands on the northern fringe of Akavir.

*Interesting Characters:

-Leovic Vasenon: Emperor of Cyrodiil and grandson of Durcorach "The Black Drake." He commands a large realm, but he is in a weak position as his vassals clamor with contempt.

-Varen Aquilarios: King of the Colovian Estates, he has aspirations of kicking the Reachmen out of his homeland and ending their control of the Empire.

-Octavia Kvinchal: Queen of Kvatch, she is an exceptionally skilled knight with a sharp mind and a hatred of heathens.

-Rislav II Larich: King of Skingrad, he is the last living member of the illustrious House Larich. Like his long-dead namesake, he is determined not to be subjugated by the neighboring Empire.

-Abnur Tharn: The immortal King of Nibenay who boasts incredible magical abilities. He is Leovic's reluctant ally, but is also quite possibly the only reason Leovic still holds the Ruby Throne. He could easily attempt to take it for himself.

-Alabcain Karth: High Chief of Karthspire and vassal of Leovic, he is tempted to use his strong base of power to seize the Empire.

-Saulio Vogian: A masterful warlord who controls the County of Redman. Although presently outmuscled by Nibenay, he has weak Argonian neighbors he could conquer to shore up his strength, and attack Nibenay in a moment of weakness.

-Castio Caro: Count of Sundercliff, he is wedged between powerful neighbors but commands a large enough realm to launch an invasion of his own if any of them are weakened by war.

-Tertio Cidian: Count of King's Crest, a small state in the mountains. His armies are surprisingly strong and could easily pose a threat to a weakened Nibenay.

-Balimund Cairn-Breaker: Jarl of Frostcrag and the only independent Nord ruler in Cyrodiil at this time. Like his neighbor Tertio, he has an army that is powerful enough to help him make a bid for power in the lowlands.

v3OS3Jj.jpg

u9qTK6e.jpg

PvTIDNj.jpg

su9BWq8.jpg

SwqlzMK.jpg

9RG5Pmo.jpg

ry47UVh.jpg

7armdwF.jpg

Vncudqb.jpg

Elder Kings 0.1.6 Dev Diary #5 - The Islands
Hello once again! Welcome to the fifth chapter in the Elder Kings 0.1.6 Developer Diaries. In this installment, we’re going to do some island hopping and meet the many peoples who hail from the archipelagoes to the north of Tamriel and Akavir. Unlike most of the locations covered by our Dev Diaries, the islands are, for the most part, relatively stable and most of their states are only rarely at war. As such, we’ll stay in 3492 and focus on what this diverse region looks like during our third bookmark.

The vast Padomaic Ocean is a natural barrier that keeps the realms of Tamriel and Akavir from coming into contact with each other except on only a few occasions. A journey across this tempestuous body of water is long and difficult, and requires a huge amount of resources as well as a fleet of resilient, seaworthy vessels. Instead, the preferred method for traveling between Tamriel and Akavir is to take the northern route and, going from island to island until arriving at a continental destination.

tZ4RIUL.jpg

BoehSJr.jpg

Roscrea is the western-most of these island nations. It is located far to the north of Tamriel, in the Sea of Ghosts, and is cold and rocky. Nonetheless, its status as the only significant landmass between Tamriel and Atmora made it an invaluable stopover for sailors during the Merethic and First Eras. The descendants of some of those ancient travelers still live here in petty independent realms, most notably, Thur Korl* of the ancient House First-Landed.

OCNP1A7.jpg

Korl and his fellow Roscreans follow the old ways of Atmora and are culturally distinct from the mainland Nords and Skaal people to the southwest. They also still practice the ancient animistic traditions that gave rise to the enigmatic Dragon Cult.

AvkPbbY.jpg

While this gives them little religious solidarity with their contemporaries, their culture is still built upon Nedic foundations. Should they ever be occupied by their Nord cousins (or somehow manage to occupy the Nords), they will find that they have much in common.

Traveling east, we now reach Cathonoquey. This nation is (like its other neighbors to the east, as we shall soon see) home to a seafaring people who call themselves the Quey. The Quey are relatively peaceful, if only out of pragmatism; most of them are far more concerned with ocean currents than with conquests. The nearby waters are usually calm, making trade and transport quick and easy. This is tremendously beneficial to the mercantile Republic of Quey and the reigning Guild Master Kashra*.

p1JWtJ2.jpg

The seas also provide strong, year-round fish stocks and warm the islands enough so that harvests are abundant. The Queys do not wish for these conditions to change, and serve several daedra, namely Sheogorath, Vaermina, Nocturnal, Mephala and Hermaeus Mora in order to maintain their prosperity. Hermaeus Mora is by far the most popular of these Princes, and is represented by the motif of the huge, vicious and elusive Quey Kraken. However, the Queys are not the only daedra-worshippers who inhabit this archipelago. They share the islands with what may very well be the last surviving Chimer lords.

G6aiGWO.jpg

PrkjhfT.jpg

These Chimer are the descendants of pilgrims who followed the prophet Veloth out of Alinor and into Morrowind, but who split up with the main Chimer faction long before the War of the First Council. Instead, they sailed northeast, found a few sparsely-inhabited islands and made them their own. Due to their political, cultural and religious isolation from Resdayn, they were spared transformation by Azura and closely resemble their distant Altmeri kin. Many have adopted the local religious beliefs of their Quey contemporaries, but those under the rule of Muthsera Roht* of Zaheddan…

Cl6aTHE.jpg

…still follow in the ways taught by Veloth. One of our new features for 0.1.6 allows rulers of the Velothi religion group to intermarry with rulers of some other religions, such as Eight Divines, Cult of Azura, Cult of Boethiah, and Cult of Mephala. This could prove exceedingly useful for House Dirdras’ political aspirations should it ever make contact with the heartland of Tamriel; a powerful Eight Divines spouse would be an indispensable (if relatively short-lived, by comparison) ally. Roht and his family would likely have to first triumph over the Chimer's more powerful neighbors for this to happen, however, which is no small task, given his relatively weak realm.

As move further east, we reach Yneslea and Esroniet, the two island chains that rest just to the north of Akavir proper. Like Cathnoquey, these lands are primarily inhabited by Queys who coexist with another group.

swP2WOn.jpg

9LzNKFJ.jpg

The main portion of Esroniet is increasingly falling under the control of the Narash dynasty. The local king, Aazmon*, is well on his way to ruling the entire region.

5H1wq99.jpg

The tiny southeastern isles of Esroniet are inhabited by the Human Akaviri, a dwindling race which has largely been kicked out of its ancient homeland by the Tsaesci. Those in Esroniet, such as Jaejin* of Pedraha, follow the religious teachings of the Queys.

qNZGZdQ.jpg

Their countrymen on the island of Zasho, however, do not. These independent-minded Akaviri profess belief in the Sun Court, a heresy of the Tsaesci Five Courts.

B0M0zZr.jpg

It purports that there is only one serpent deity, and that the five serpents of the Tsaesci are different aspects of the same god. Their priests are extremely reserved, living lives of celibacy and poverty, and the religion extolls virtues of honor and stoicism. These Humans are in an almost constant state of war with the nearby Tsaesci and are gradually losing their grip on the gateway to Akavir.

yTdHUVl.jpg

9Gvnih7.jpg

Hoping to prevent another Tsaesci invasion, the brilliant King Hajime II* of Ozu…

t7qwna1.jpg

…and the charismatic Queen Akino* of Asohi…

njBZQEQ.jpg

…have entered into a marriage alliance. Both are exceptional rulers but have little land and few warriors. They may need to find a way to acquire the assistance of the Tsaesci-hating Taisho II* of Jamirya…

jMd34gM.jpg

…who is the only other independent Sun Court-practicing Human of Akaviri heritage. Fortunately, the Akaviri rulers have an opening for war. The armies of Kamipara were recently raised, but they are not moving on the Humans. Instead, they are heading south, deep into the heart of Tsaesci territory with the purpose of fighting other Tsaesci. The people of Zasho can only speculate why this is happening, but they care little for the cause. What matters to them is that this may be their last chance to stop the centuries-long conquest of their people.

This Tsaesci conflict, as well as an unusual new religious development among their Po Tun neighbors, will be focused on in our next developer diary!

*Interesting Characters:

-Korl First-Landed: Thur of Ynisfall. This elderly ruler is the current head of an ancient line of Atmorans who can trace their ancestry as far back as the early years of the First Era.

-Kashra Barrak: Guild Master of the prosperous Quey Republic, he rules over a modest but successful maritime state that has little in the way of serious rivals and could soon expand his trade empire to other nations in the Padomaic Ocean.

-Roht Dirdras: Muthsera of Zaheddan. Not only is he one of two remaining Chimer lords, he is the only one to practice the beliefs advanced by Veloth. Transforming his one-county realm into a new Resdayn would be a monumental task and will require extreme skill and patience.

-Aazmon Narash: Petty King of Esroniet. Of all the rulers in the region, he certainly has the best opportunity to form a proper Quey kingdom.

-Jaejin Yasha: Akaviri Count of Pedraha, he rules a small but relatively safe realm, isolated from the incursions that his countrymen in the south regularly contend with.

-Hajime II Hannori: Petty King of Ozu, this brilliant Akaviri mage has forged a marriage alliance with his neighbor Akino in order to combine their talents and unite their realm against the Tsaesci of Kamipara.

-Akino Kuro: Petty Queen of Asohi, she is a superb diplomat. She is sacrificing her dynasty's control of Asohi in a last-ditch effort to save her Akaviri people from what would otherwise be certain doom.

-Taisho II Hanaboru: Petty King of Jamirya. He is a woefully untalented monk but his passion to destroy his Tsaesci enemies could compensate for this weakness. He would do well to work alongside his Akaviri compatriots to liberate the Akaviri people of Zaisho from Tsaesci enslavement.

Elder Kings 0.1.6 Dev Diary #6 - Tsaesci and Po Tun in 3492Нажмите здесь!

Hi again! It’s time for another Elder Kings 0.1.6 Developer Diary! Today’s chapter is about the Tsaesci and the Po Tun of 3492. One race’s homeland is in the midst of a major war. Another is on the precipice of multiple major wars. In both cases, these races' lands could soon be united or fall into total disarray as kings and queens see their armies destroyed. Even the smallest battle could have an enormous effect on the future of these states.

Ever since the rise of militaristic Gorling over 120 years ago, the Tsaesci states have viciously battled with another for primacy. Strings of conquests by the greater powers subjugated or destroyed most of the small independent realms that were previously abundant.

al85tgD.jpg

A few years ago, Va-Tsii Akiara* of Nuku turned her eyes to the weak Dochi of Cotu, located in the Meratsies River Valley, with the intention of integrating it into her expanding vsiochi.

2mTqRnK.jpg

But Akiara is encountering staunch resistance from her target, Dokii Eaes.*

D2cJYjF.jpg

Eaes is a resourceful adversary and has made excellent use of two allies to maintain her independence. The first of these is her mother-in-law, Caywes II* of Hawlok.

nRjKCIA.jpg

The second ally is Va-Tsii Tanis* of Gorkota, who was asked by Eaes to step in to tip the balance of power in the defenders' favor.

Xa14fUk.jpg

Tanis leads a sprawling realm and commands the largest armies of any Tsaesci matriarch. Her entrance into the war is widely believed by Tsaesci nobles to be nothing more than an attempt to soften Nuku up for an invasion of her own. As such, Nuku has in turn gained the vehement support of Tanis’ territorial rivals, Dokii Sviawes* of Lautah…

IjpsjUn.jpg

…and Va-Tsii Govata* of Kamipara…

M20lX3M.jpg

…both of whom are eager to cripple Gorkota’s armies and stymie any potential conquests for the next decade or so. This war has thus far been inconclusive. Nuku’s early military victories against the divided forces of Cotu and Hawlok were nullified by a defeat on the open battlefield against Gorkota. In the south, all sides recently withdrew from campaigning and have just finished retraining their armies. This has left Nuku outnumbered.

1bAikMg.jpg

In the north, Gorkota controls a fighting force tasked with keeping three separate armies at bay; one from Lautah, to the east; and two from Kamipara, to the northeast and south.

UcsWWpR.jpg

Nuku’s allies to the north will need to be fast before their enemies surround the expansionist Vsiochi and occupy it. Likewise, Cotu’s allies will need to quickly crush Nuku before reinforcements from Kamipara and Lautah leave them outnumbered.

As this Tsaesci war unfolds, there are three Po Tun kingdoms that are readying for war. A combination of military conquests and external inheritances has broken the kingdoms up in a few places. The associated de jure holdings are up for grabs.

5NuXw7v.jpg

Gucun, under the guidance of Tun Janara*, is currently the mightiest realm with control extending far to the south, into Tang Mo territory.

EZDMnnO.jpg

However, his realm sits between two rivals who would very much enjoy seizing his lands. One of them is Tun Patakuja* of the recently-unified Kingdom of Baidao, who is eager to expand his new realm against both neighboring Tsaesci and Po Tun.

kDvOY2N.jpg

The other is Tun Kaviadit* of Xie Yang, whose religious beliefs are challenging the established norms of the tiger-folk.

daVNYLC.jpg

Kaviadit is a Black Dragon cultist, worshipping the ancient, winged beings native to Akavir. This faith includes a belief that the Po Tun can harness the power of the dragons and transform into those mighty, immortal beings. Kaviadit currently lacks any proof to back up his claims, and many dismiss him as a mere heretic.

Mivy5HP.jpg

If what Kaviadit believes is actually true, it would grant an incredible advantage for Xie Yang; both against its fellow Po Tun states, and against the Tsaesci. Of course, in the event that Kaviadit’s claims do not come to fruition, his realm is still in an excellent position to expand. Gucun’s long borders could make it quite vulnerable to an attack. There are reports of Tang Mo warriors preparing to liberate their people from Gucun. Should this occur, Gucun's vulnerabilities will be especially easy to exploit.

Zrrp62a.jpg

However, Akavir is not the only region in 3492 that is rife with warfare. In our next developer diary, we are going to journey far to the west and visit Alinor, which is defending against a massive foreign invasion. This struggle will determine the fate of the Altmer people!

*Interesting Tsaesci Characters:

-Akiara Biwaoh: Va-Tsii of Nuku. This aggressive ruler saw a simple de jure conquest turn into a huge war featuring almost every Tsaesci realm. Nonetheless, she still plans to incorporate Cotu into her Vsiochi and will continue to fight until she wins or until her armies are destroyed.

-Eaes Zirak: Dokii of Cotu, she is determined to preserve the independence of her small state and will do whatever it takes to repel the invasion of her expansionist enemy.

-Caywes II Zanarma: Dokii of Hawlok and ally of Eaes of Cotu. She is a poor military leader but is committed to assisting her daughter-in-law repel the invasion from Nuku.

-Tanis Vstirielaes: Va-Tsii of Gorkota, she controls the largest Tsaesci realm and has committed a huge army to assist Cotu and Hawlok against Nuku. Her sincerity as an ally is however very questionable, due to her own expansionist tendencies and history of underhanded intrigue.

-Sviawes Aurn: Dokii of Lautah, she joined Nuku in its war against Cotu when Gorkota entered the fray. She hopes that she can save her realm from her more powerful neighbors by seizing land from a crippled Gorkota after this war ends.

-Govata Tksilye: Va-Tsii of Kamipara, she originally planned on consolidating her power by crushing the Akaviri to her north, but sees the war in the south as a wonderful opportunity to weaken Gorkota so that her realm can become the preeminent Tsaesci power.

*Interesting Po Tun Characters:

-Janara Daksu Admani: Tun of Gucun, he is the strongest of the three Po Tun kings. His realm has rivals to the east and the west, long borders and a large minority of Tang Mo subjects; he will need to tread carefully if he wars with either or both of his neighbors.

-Patakuja Rohat Tara: Tun of Beidao, an emerging kingdom. He could be a serious threat to Gucun if Gucun is caught in another war. Alternatively, he could push to the north and conquer the weakened Tsaesci realms nearby.

-Kaviadit Pata-Sarpa Jiti: Tun of Xie Yang and Black Dragon cultist. His radical religious beliefs have put him at odds with traditional Great Tiger worshippers, but he insists that the power of dragons is within the reach of his fellow Po Tun. If this is somehow true, it would be revolutionary.
